Nominator's project description
| Professor Lindau has developed and applied biophysical techniques to investigate quantal release of neurotransmitter in unprecedented detail. He has characterized the opening of the molecular fusion pore in a neuronal cell type, which is the critical step leading to transmitter release. In collaboration with Professor Sakman and Professor Denk at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research he now is going to use fluorescent nanoparticles to track transport of single proteins in neurons. These studies are aimed at a more detailed mechanistic understanding of brain function. |
